The North Olympic Peninsula "Rainshadow"
Sequim, Washington is well-known to airline pilots. They call it the "blue hole" - largely because this gorgeous neck of the woods is safely tucked behind the Olympic Mountains - famous for their beauty and glaciers - to the southwest, which protects it from extreme weather patterns.
Mountains & Water - the Best of Both Worlds!
To the south lies the awesomely beautiful Olympic Mountains. To the north, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, leading into the Puget Sound from the Pacific Ocean. Who could ask for a more beautiful place?
You won't want to miss a visit here to see the unbelievable scenery, wildlife, and enjoy small-town atmosphere. Our rural yet extremely comfortable Ranch is just the place to settle in to begin your adventure!
The Sequim Elk are a sight to see - and often you can see them just by driving down the highway - or up around the Happy Valley area, where they tend to gather for the spring and summer months.
Don't miss the Hurricane Ridge, where you can enjoy viewing the wildlife, the fantastic glaciers, and the various hiking trails, from easy to more difficult. It's a side trip you won't want to miss.
Enjoy the fresh fruits and vegetables at the Sequim Open Aire Market. Lavendar farms abound around the area - and if you happen to come during the Lavendar Festival, there's much fun and food available at the downtown booths or a fun-filled farm tour available. (July 18-20).
Or you can just wander downtown Sequim with its friendly small-town atmosphere, plenty of restaurants and places to shop, and meet new friends!
The Olympic Discovery Trail is great for hiking or bicycling - or you can golf at any of the golf courses in the area. Kayaking is another favorite pastime of the area. Or hike out to the lighthouse. See Bed, Breakfast & Biking for other areas.
Other day trips include the beautiful Lake Crescent, a popular recreational area in the Olympic National Park, home to a number of trails, with several beaches and boat ramps - and the famous Hoh Rain Forest, with its hiking trails, the "Hall of Mosses", and several interpretive exhibits.
We're located within 10 minutes of Sequim, about 20 minutes from Port Angeles and the Victoria Ferry, about 35 minutes from Hurricane Ridge, approximately 40 miles to Lake Crescent, and about 110 miles from the Rainforest.
